Intentionality

My word for the year is intentionality. This is something I picked up from one of my blogging friends, Jami Balmet. She has been such an encouragement to me this past year. Take a minute to check her out, here. She has been doing a word of the year for quite some time and this year I have decided to give it a try!

Intentionality is something that has been on my mind for the last couple of months. Often times during the day, I found myself mindlessly scrolling through Instagram or watching TV for hours on end, but that is not what we are called to. As Christian women we are reminded in Proverbs 31:27, “She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.” When I look at that verse that wasn’t me; I ‘ate the bread of idleness’ a lot.

When we are so mindlessly caught up in the ways of the world, they tend to squeeze out any time for the Word or prayer. I was caught up in this cycle of instant gratification and laziness, but through the Lord’s help, this year will not look like that. Through His mercy we are no longer slaves to sin or worldly desires. So this month to kick the year off right, I decided to get off of social media for this entire month. That’s a long time, but I have already seen an incredibly effect in these first couple of days. It has made me so much more productive. God led my heart to take a step back from it all and I’m so glad that he did.

So if this resonates with you, I challenge you to take a step back with me. We are called to live lives that are intentional. Make every step meaningful.

Live Intentionally
